Sie alle handeln von den psychologischen Auswirkungen juveniler Diabetes, nicht nur auf den Patienten selbst, sondern auch auf sein gesamtes soziales Umfeld. Dieses Buch sollte ein Anreiz für Kinderärzte, Diabetologen, Sozialarbeiter, Psychologen und Psychotherapeuten sein, sich eingehender mit einem umfassenden Behandlungskonzept von Diabetes bei Kindern und Jugendlichen zu befassen.
Found in this volume are the papers presented at the 5th International Beilinson Symposium on „Psychological Aspects of Diabetes in Children and Adolescents” and the main parts of the discussions held during this symposium (Israel, October 25–30 1981). All of them are dealing with the impact of this chronic disease, with its frequent acute episodes, on the young patient as well as on his family and peers, teachers and doctors. It is hoped that this book will serve as a stimulus to paediatricians, diabetologists, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists to devote more of their time to developing a more comprehensive therapeutic scheme in the treatment of juvenile diabetes.
